This post doesn’t have any particular theme, unless you can count lack of a theme, as a theme…

This is a sampling of all the other photo’s I’ve been taking this year, I’m sure not everyone will like everything here, but I hope there is something for everyone! Some are very experimental, others were taken on the spur of the moment while I have been out somewhere and the rest are single shots from some shoots that didn’t turn out as well as I had wanted.

Definitely an opportunistic shot, from the back seat of a moving car…

I find sometimes the photos that capture your attention the best, are ones that are from a perspective the viewer isn’t used to seeing it from.

A good mate of mine- he often wanders in front of the lens when I’m taking photos at home, he has earned himself the nickname Zoolander, because he seems to know when to pose- when the camera is on him!

I live near the bush, and have dozens of photos of the wildlife that strolls (or flies) into our yard.  This is one of my recent favourites.

As I mentioned in another post recently, I love shooting at night.  This scene would look pretty mundane without the lighting effects and the moon/sky.

After taking this shot, I have a lot of respect for the people who do this sort of photography, its really not easy!  This photo is a fairly old one, taken at the end of summer, I still haven’t been able to replicate it!

This photo would be a lot creepier if there was a person in that chair…

The second image here, is a special type of photo called HDR, which is basically several photos merged into one to give a much higher than normal range of tones and colours, more like what a human eye can see, and less like a traditional camera photo.  They look spectacular when done correctly, and really strange if you get it wrong!  The Black and White above, was taken around the corner, a  total contrast to the HDR, but equally appealing.

Another little trick for still-life style photos- light painting.  I wont reveal all my secrets though, as this one isn’t as straight-forward as it looks…

I also take photos for my sister (in exchange for some creative advice!) who does some beautiful jewellery making.  These are some of my favourite shots of the many I have done so far, I believe these photos may be appearing on her own website shortly.  Thanks to Caitlin for letting me post these here, if you are interested drop me a line and I will put you in touch.

My partner in crime (until recently).  She will be missed! R.I.P.

When the weather gets warmer I will definitely be getting out into nature for more of these sorts of shots!

Something about the lighting makes this quirky photo really jump out at me.  It seems very surreal?

A brave attempt at combining three types of photography…
   -Macro (sort of)
   -Long Exposure
   -Light Painting
This shot works in a weird way, the rest of my results were laughable!

I love the intense colours and contrast here, it feels very threatening and dark.

Simple.  I don’t feel like I really need to explain this one…
